Processing of conjugated nanoparticle hybrid systems for use in biomedical diagnostics

Project description:
A measurement principle that has caught a lot of attention in recent years due to the extremely high analytical sensitivity is called surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). SERS is based on plasmonic surfaces such as gold nanoparticles and leads to Raman signals which are up to 1010-fold higher than in conventional Raman spectroscopy. In this project, several multifunctional nanoparticle systems are synthesized and used for diagnostic SERS-based ex-vivo and in-vitro applications.

Objectives and tasks of the iPAT:

  • Establishment of different hybrid nanoparticle systems with tailored properties for SERS-based diagnostics
  • Characterization of the particle synthesis and functionalization as well as acquisition of the essential process parameters to ensure the important product properties
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic ex-vivo/in-vitro applications of the hybrid nanoparticles
